Restore. Educate. Reconnect.

BARC volunteers take part in the restoration of Hamilton Harbour and help the community reconnect with our waterways locally. BARC strives to provide volunteers with enjoyable and rewarding placements that accommodate the unique skills and preferences of each volunteer.


Marsh Volunteer Planting – improve water quality and rebuild valuable habitat by helping us plant hundreds of cattails in Cootes Paradise Marsh. Plantings occur in July and August each year. Details are posted online several weeks prior to each event.


Citizen Science - help BARC promote a public understanding of social, physical and natural issues. Share with the online community your research or class project. Do you have other project ideas that would enhance public awareness and understanding of the environmental status of Hamilton Harbour and its watershed? We want to hear it!


Bay Area Ambassadors – engage the community at our waterfront outreach centre (finished for the season); and/or share BARC’s mandate with your classroom, colleagues, community group, friends and family.
